The Independent Electoral and Boundaries commission of kenya(IEBC) led by counsel Wafula Chebukati had to conduct afresh presidential election within 60 days as so ordered by the SC of kenya, the commission Gazetted Oct 17 as the day of the fresh presidential election which was immediately rejected by the presidential candidate of National super Alliance (NASA). This forced the electoral commission to go back to the drawing board and came up with a new date for the Elections, 26th,October 2017....
Meanwhile the government party(Jubilee Alliance) was crisscrossing the country looking for votes. Determined to ensure the forthcoming elections were free, fair and verifiable the opposition party was busy engaging the commission(IEBC) with what they termed as irreducible minimums, essentially this were eleven key reform points the opposition wanted the commission to implement before the repeat presidential election ensuring free, fair and verifiable elections ....
Following unsuccessful engagements with the electoral commission of kenya the leader of opposition and the Nasa presidential candidate a key stakeholder of the forthcoming elections H. E prime minister the Enigma right honorable Raila Amolo odinga made an informed decision to withdraw from the fresh presidential elections citing frustrations from the commission side who were determined to carry on with the predetermined( to rig in president kenyatta) elections without reforms this led to a constitutional crisis....
Raila Odinga and the National super Alliance(NASA) embarked on a national campaign against the fresh presidential elections with a clear message #NoReformsNoElections. A few days to the elections commissioner Akombe a key member of the commission resigned from the commission citing a poor working environment and not being sure whether the elections will be conducted in accordance with the Constitution as ordered by The Supreme Court of kenya
